What Is CBD?

What is CBD (cannabidiol) and how does it help?  CBD is the non-psychoactive component of the marijuana plant (genus: Cannabis). This non-psychoactive form of marijuana is referred to as Hemp.  Hemp is high in the CBD component and below 0.3% in the THC component (the psychoactive part – makes you feel, ‘high’).

As of 2019, clinical research on cannabidiol included studies of anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain; however, there is insufficient, high-quality evidence that it is effective for these conditions.  But not to worry – there are currently studies happening at UCSD (UC San Diego) as of Oct, 2019 looking into the effects of CBD on arthritis, insomnia and alcohol dependence.  Even though there is little clinical research – many users of CBD infused products swear by their efficacy in reducing inflammation and muscle and joint pain.
